Logo Design

For this project I was tasked with designing a logo for the Washington Monument Marathon that combined the iconic monument with subtle cues of motion and achievement. Rather than using literal running imagery, the design conveys the marathon theme through a medal-inspired circular layout, curved typography, and patriotic elements like stars and flags. The Washington Monument is simplified and centered for instant recognition, framed by “Washington Monument Marathon” in bold, curved Salden Caps type. A light blue background paired with a navy ring and stone gray tones creates a fresh yet classic feel, while still reflecting national pride. Gestalt principles of figure-ground, closure, and continuity unify the composition and guide the eye.
